Mission

PR & marketing official charge

The PR & Marketing Committee is a standing committee of Smathers Libraries that is composed of representatives from each department or unit that has a strong interest in improving the image of the libraries among University of Florida faculty, students, and staff.

The Committee works closely with and consults the Smathers Public Information Officer (PIO) and is charged with the following responsibilities.

• Undertakes activities that will establish a clear and positive image of the libraries in the university community.

• Undertakes activities that increase awareness in the university community of the scope of the libraries’ services

• Builds an internal marketing culture within the libraries.

• Provides a framework to ensure consistency in the libraries’ communications concerning public relations and marketing.

• Performs an annual evaluation of the libraries’ image and public perception.

• Prepares an annual report, which includes a summary of the previous year’s activities, a marketing plan and budget for the coming year.

• Develops and maintains, in collaboration with the UF Libraries’ web manager, an events and exhibits management system designed to increase internal and external communication of library events.

• Serves as editorial board for Library News, the UF faculty publication.
